Talk. Interact. Comfort. Lift.
Guide. Direct. Inspire.

I've worked with restrictive diets my entire career. Especially the renal diet. I believe food is an incredible part of all our lives. We use food to acknowledge the most important events of life, connect with family and friends, and sometimes even to give us solace when we're feeling down (yeah, me too!). But not every dish on the table is good for us to put in our mouth. My message is about putting the magic back into food for those who feel they have "restrictions." The key? Can have! My message is about making all diets both livable and lovable. That means we talk about clear, specific guidelines and products, great cooking tips, giant splashes of creativity and a big ol' dash of humor for dietary oops! We gain confidence and energy as we learn how to eat to nourish our own individual body and embrace food as a wonderful, part of our life. That is my message. And guess what? It is not only fun, but it will completely change your mind about what the word "diet" really means for your life and in your life.

Loved your slide show and your presentation. It was one of the best dietitian presentations that I've heard in my 20 + years working with kidney patients. You presented a positive outlook, great suggestions for substitutes, and ways patients can still enjoy the holidays without feeling deprived. I hope you will consider doing another presentation or two next year for us.

Thank you Jess for your presentation at our Dallas-Fort Worth meeting. As a committee, we loved your engaging presentation. The positive promotion of the RD, samples for the group, and good, relevant information made this an excellent presentation. The explanation of the business side of CKD was very thorough. We also loved your pleasant interaction with our entire group. Thank you for being responsive to committee's requests and being helpful with coordination of the speaking engagement.

-Dallas-Fort Worth Council on Renal Nutrition Committee

I thought your whole presentation was AWESOME!...I felt inspired as a renal dietitian. It is easy to get complacent in our day to day tasks and it was motivating to hear something we could be working towards as dietitians to truly make a difference. I often feel like us dietitians are too late by the time the patients see us in the dialysis chair. It would be so rewarding to work with patients who are so willing to make changes to prevent or at least delay the onset of dialysis.

-Belinda Shanley, New England Council on Renal Nutrition

I want to thank you so much for taking the time to be a presenter for us at yesterday’s Kidney Spring Symposium! Your presentation was wonderful! Your information made this educational opportunity so much more valuable to the patients, family members and caregivers who attended.
