This list was created to give a one-page list of foods that could work for someone with kidney disease, heart disease, and diabetes.
Categories on grocery list include:
- Vegetables (potassium <250mg/serving)
- Fruits (potassium <250 mg/serving)
- Cereals/Grains (Subcategorized into Bread, Cereals, Crackers, Grains)
- Frozen Foods
Foods categories that may impact glucose levels are identified to help the patient understand how to balance both diabetes with renal restrictions. Also includes whole grains with a designation regarding higher potassium content.
This is my “go-to” handout for any first-encounter patient for renal diet education as it shows all the “can-have” foods available.
