– wanting to lose weight, but doesn’t eat fruits and vegetables
– having issues with constipation
– inflammation
– wanting more variety in their diet
– low phosphorus food options
– low energy and has poor diet quality
This handout walks your patient through just a few of the many benefits of fruits and vegetables, reminds them that they don’t have to try and make changes on their own- after all, fruits and vegetables are for everyone and it can be fun to try new things, and also provides serving suggestions to foods they are likely already eating- so the thought of eating more fruits and vegetables isn’t taking them into completely different meal territory. Also helpful to note is that while many alfredo sauce brands contain phosphorus additives, Newman’s Own brand does not and it makes a phosphorus additive free, low potassium (at 30mg/ serving) option to pair with zucchini noodles.
The theme of the rainbow also goes well with the idea of St. Patricks day or makes a fun handout for national nutrition month.
