This is the dead of summer! Nothing seems to drive thirst more than a hot hot day! And if you have to limit your fluids for dialysis this can really be tough! This board highlights a few easy strategies to stay cool and help stave off excess fluid intake. This board makes staying cool while on dialysis, well “cool!” It is a simple board that can go up in any dialysis unit for those pesky fluid gains.
Lobby Day
I think this would make for a fun lobby day. A few icicle decorations, put up a couple fans. Make some jokes about how the dialysis center is always cold…. You could easily handout non-food items such as fans, popsicle trays, even sunglasses (I know that doesn’t help with a hot day, but its a cool give away). Also having a few inexpensive popsicles in the freezer to give people on the way home could be a real hit:) Gives you a chance to talk about fluids and sodium in a super cool way.
