At KidneyRD we don’t believe a CKD diagnosis is a ticket to dialysis. There is a lot you can do.
Does this sound like you?
If you have been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. Most people immediately begin to wonder how long they have until they have to start dialysis. And most just want to avoid!
If you went to the internet to find answers on what to eat to avoid dialysis you may quickly have become overwhelmed.
KidneyRD knows all too well the fear that comes from not knowing what is safe to eat. Which is why we provide you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to enjoy food while also caring for your overall health.
Our approach is based looking at the 8 opportunities to preserve kidney function seen regularly in the scientific literature. We encourage a lifestyle with whole foods, reduced toxic load, daily movement, and positive mindset.
Clear Guidance on Sodium
Personalized recommendations on how much sodium to have and how to make low sodium food delicious and flavorful!
Plan for Protein
We look at how much and what type of protein you'll need. We are familiar with low protein AND very low protein diets with ketoanalogues
Gut Health and Inflammation
We take a proactive look at healing the gut. Issues such as GERD, IBS, or just overall digestive concerns are something we can help with.
Potassium and Phosphorus
We take into account potassium, phosphorus, and other nutrients that need to be carefully monitored in kidney disease.
Clarity on Supplements
Guidance on which supplements are crucial to include for you personally and which ones are a waste of money
Mind over Matter
We focus on kidney health not kidney disease. We approach our work with a healing mindset to overcome the fear, anxiety, and anger that often comes with a CKD diagnosis.
Understand your Bloodwork
How to monitor your labs and trends to see what is and isn’t working, what questions to ask your doctor, and how food is impacting your results.
Meal Planning and Nutrient Tracking
We help you plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks whether you’re on-the-go or at home to tackle inflammation and optimize nutrition.
Tools We Use
This is our number one most requested tool. We help create personalized meal plans to take the guesswork out of what to eat. We also use this tool to help teach our patients what to eat and WHY.
Some people need a deeper look into what is going on. We offer micronutrient testing and interpretation, microbiome testing and interpretation, and food sensitivity testing. This allows us to look at a lot of WHY of what is going on. Not everyone needs this, but in the case of extensive inflammation we find these tools are very helpful!
We use Cronometer to analyze the nutrition profile of our patient's diet. This helps us look for any gaps in their diet and assess the alkalinity of the diet using PRAL. We then are able to give specific recommendations to fine tune the diet for best outcomes.
